Mr. Clark's Physics Log Oct. 19, 2000 First meeting of Middle Ages in Motion Project a STCC. We were introduced to the staff at STCC and the teams from Putnam Vocational High School, Springfield Science and Technology High School, Northampton High School, and Smith Vocational High School. Oct. 23. 2000 The PBS video on trebuchets was shown to both physics classes as an introduction and motivational tool to the project. Oct. 24, 2000 Initiated the Physic of the Trebuchet Research Project, a yearly project copyright of James Clark and Mr. Fizzix TM www.mrfizzix.com/treb00.htm Note: Please e-mail mrfizzix@mrfizzix.com for permission to use this and simply reference the site if you do. Nov. 13, 2000 Trebuchet research is due today and students share their results with the rest of the class Nov. 14, 2000 A cross curriculum multi media presentation of "Torque and Center of Gravity" is shown in the Library to Physics, Math, History, and Vocational Students involved in the project. Nov. 15 - 16 Continued to cover curriculum on Torque and Center of Gravity in more detail for my physics students. Nov. 8, 2000 Assigned the "Operation Egg Launch" Project, a yearly project based learning discipline, to my physics students to enhance their understanding of torque, rotational motion, center of gravity, projectile motion, rotational acceleration, and velocity. Two vocational students also opted to compete in this project. Dec. 11 - Dec. 15, 2000 Lecture, Labs, and demonstrations on Projectile motion are incorporated into the physics curriculum. Dec. 18, 2000 A cross curriculum multimedia presentation of "Projectile Motion", "Paths of a Projectile", and the independence of horizontal and vertical motion as well as Newton's Laws, gravity and acceleration is shown in the Library to Physics, Math, History, and Vocational Students involved in the project. A demonstration on projectile motion is also incorporated into this presentation.
Jan. 17, 2001 Physics students compete in the "Operation Egg Launch" Project. Students from the Math and Vocational classes attend the competition.
